The Reichstag building is a historical edifice in Berlin, Germany, constructed to house the Reichstag, parliament of the German Empire. It was opened in 1894 and housed the Reichstag until 1933, when it was severely damaged in a fire supposedly set by Dutch communist Marinus van der Lubbe. During the Nazi era, the few meetings of members of the Reichstag as a group were held in the Kroll Opera House. After the Second World War the Reichstag building fell into disuse as the parliament of the German Democratic Republic met in the Palace of the Republic in East Berlin and the parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany met in the Bundeshaus in Bonn.
The building was made safe against the elements and partially refurbished in the 1960s, but no attempt at full restoration was made until after the reunification of Germany on October 3, 1990, when it underwent reconstruction led by internationally renowned architect Norman Foster. After its completion in 1999, it became the meeting place of the modern German parliament, the Bundestag.

The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore is the cathedral church (Duomo) of Florence, Italy, begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to the design of Arnolfo di Cambio and completed structurally in 1436 with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white and has an elaborate 19th century Gothic Revival facade by Emilio De Fabris.
The cathedral complex, located in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto’s Campanile. The three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the historic centre of Florence and are a major attraction to tourists visiting the region of Tuscany. The basilica is one of Italy’s largest churches, and until the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.
The cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Florence, whose archbishop is currently Giuseppe Betori.

The Cathedral of Intercession of Theotokos on the Moat, popularly known as Saint Basil’s Cathedral, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral erected on the Red Square in Moscow in 1555–1561. Built on the order of Ivan IV of Russia to commemorate the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan, it marks the geometric center of the city and the hub of its growth since the 14th century. It was the tallest building of Moscow until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600.
The original building, known as “Trinity Church” and later “Trinity Cathedral”, contained eight side churches arranged around the ninth, central church of Intercession; the tenth church was erected in 1588 over the grave of venerated local Fool Vasily (Basil). In the 16th and the 17th centuries the cathedral, perceived as the earthly symbol of the Heavenly City,[4] was popularly known as the “Jerusalem” and served as an allegory of the Jerusalem Temple in the annual Palm Sunday parade attended by the Patriarch of Moscow and the tsar

The Fabulous Fox offers a dazzling array of talent and entertainment twelve months a year. On a cold January morning in 1981 Leon and Mary Strauss first saw the Fox Theatre. With the aid of flashlights and one working light bulb, the Strausses discovered the hidden magic of the splendid theatre beneath the dirt and grime of 52 years. It was love at first sight and the rest is St. Louis history. Banding together as Fox Associates, Leon Strauss, Robert Baudendistel, Dennis McDaniel and Harvey Harris privately purchased the movie palace from the Arthur family. With Mary Strauss as director of restoration, there began a one year, $2 million plus restoration program under the aegis of Pantheon Construction Company.

If it weren’t for Autostrada 22, the city of Rovereto, Italy, would be even farther off the main tourist routes.
MART, as it’s widely known, was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta and opened in 2002. It attracts about 70,000 visitors a year.
Jamkaran, Iran (on the outskirts of Qom) is the site of the Jamkaran Mosque, a popular pilgrimage site for Shi’ite Muslims. Local belief has it that the Twelfth Imam — a messiah figure Shia believe will lead the world to an era of universal peace — once appeared and offered prayers at Jamkaran. On Tuesday evenings especially large crowds of tens of thousands gather at Jamkaran to pray and to drop a note to the Imam in a well at the site, asking for help with some problem.

I think these are some of the most beautiful monasteries. Hidden in the mountains, so close to the sky, they are quiet shelters far far away from secular society. No matter the religion, these isolated wonders remain an expression of pure faith and peace beyond time and space. Some of them are still inhabited, others, forgotten will become dust with time.

St George Monastery, Wadi Qilt, Israel

The monastery, originally dedicated to the Virgin, was founded about 480. It flourished in the sixth century but was destroyed by the Persians in 614 and thereafter was abandoned. The present buildings were erected between 1878 and 1901. The church dedicated to the Mother of God has fine icons and wall paintings; the church of St John and St George preserves a sixth century mosaic pavement. In a cave are the remains of the monks who were killed during the Persian advance on Jerusalem.

Xuan Kong Temple, near Datong, China

In China’s Shanxi Province around 500km (300 miles) south west of Beijing is located The Hanging Temple (named Xuan Kong Si). This amazing structure is one of the most precarious structures in the world. Long wooden beams extend from the outer edge of the temple buildings down to holes chiseled into the massive rock face.

Anapafsa Monastery, Meteora, Greece

The Greek word Meteora means “suspended in the air”, and our words meteorite and meteorology come from the same root. The conglomerate rock at Meteora, Greece, has eroded into fantastic peaks upon which medieval monks built monasteries, several of which are still active. The isolated monasteries of Meteora helped keep alive Greek Orthodox religious traditions and Hellenic culture during the turbulent Middle Ages and Ottoman Turk occupation of Greece (1453-1829).

Djurdjevi Stupovi Monastery, Serbia

Djurdjevi Stupovi Monastery in Ras ,Republic of Serbia, near Novi Pazar was founded by the first Serbian ruler Stefan Nemanja in 1170-1171 according to the incarved inscription from the main church portail. It was built on a hilltop near old Ras and its location is a significant point in the area at his new just established state with the tour of Ras as a capital.

Petra Monastery, Jordan

Petra is a historic and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma’an that has rock cut architecture and water conduits system. Established sometime around the 6th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataeans, it is a symbol of Jordan as well as its most visited tourism attraction. It lies on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Petra is an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.

Madonna del Sasso, Switzerland

High up above the town of Locarno, there is a sanctuary located on a forested cliff; Madonna del Sasso. Sasso means rock, so hopefully I won’t be struck down for translating it as Madonna on the Rocks. The church was consecrated in the 19th century when a local monk, Brother Bartholomeo, claimed that the Madonna had appeared before him whilst walking in the woods.

Popa Mountain Monastery, Myanmar

Rising majestically out of the plains of central Burma, 2,417 feet up in the air atop an ancient, sheer-sided volcanic plug, the Buddhist monastery of Popa Taungkalat surveys the surrounding scene. An amazing example of a human construction merged organically with its natural setting, Taung Kalat also draws thousands of pilgrims each year because of its great spiritual significance.
Glojene Monastery, Bulgaria

According to the legend, the monastery was built in the 13th century (1224), when Ukrainian knyaz Georgi Glozh settled in the area with Ivan Asen II’s approval. The knyaz founded a monastery carrying the name of St George, whose icon he had brought with himself. The icon then disappeared numerous times only to be found on a hill not far from the village of Glozhene, which was interpreted by the monks as a divine sign to move the monastery there. This was eventually done near the end of the 14th century.

Le Mont Saint Michel, France

Mont-St-Michel (also written Mont Saint Michel) is a small rocky island about 1 km from the north coast of France at the mouth of the Couesnon River in Normandy. The mount is best known for the medieval Benedictine Abbey and steepled church that occupies most of the 1km-diameter clump of rocks jutting out of the waters of the English Channel.

About YouTube:

YouTube was founded in 2005 by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim, who were all early employees of PayPal. YouTube is the leader in online video, sharing original videos worldwide through a Web experience. YouTube allows people to easily upload and share video clips across the Internet through websites, mobile devices, blogs, and email.

Everyone can watch videos on YouTube. People can see first-hand accounts of current events, find videos about their hobbies and interests, and discover the quirky and unusual. As more people capture special moments on video, YouTube is empowering them to become the broadcasters of tomorrow.

YouTube received funding from Sequoia Capital in November 2005 and was officially launched one month later in December. Chad Hurley and Steve Chen proceeded to become the first members of the YouTube management team and currently serve as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer respectively.

In November 2006, within a year of its launch, YouTube was purchased by Google Inc. in one of the most talked-about acquisitions to date.

YouTube has struck numerous partnership deals with content providers such as CBS, BBC, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, NBA, The Sundance Channel and many more.

Interesting:

In March 2007, Viacom introduced its much talked about $1 billion lawsuit against Google and YouTube. In a statement explaining why they were pursuing legal action, Viacom stated that “we must turn to the courts to prevent Google and YouTube from continuing to steal value from artists and to obtain compensation for the significant damage they have caused.” The lawsuit was preceded by a takedown request from Viacom ordering YouTube to remove over 100,000 clips from its stable of networks.

Facts:

Maybe this company doesn’t look so impressive like Google but here are some interesting facts about YouTube:
- YouTube reaches 1Billion Views per day
- YouTube Hits 100 Million U.S. Viewers
- YouTube was acquired by Google for $1.65B
- YouTube received $8M in Series B funding.
- YouTube received $3.5M in Series A funding… and after these facts we can only look at these pictures and guess how much money employees make in this successful company…

The Mardan Palace Hotel one of the most luxurious hotels in the Mediterranean region, was opened in the popular Turkish resort town of Antalya costing nearly 1.5 billion USD.

The most expensive hotels in Europe Mardan Palace includes a total 560 rooms, cost from $ 475 up to $ 19,000 per night. The most expensive rooms have a pool, a concert grand piano, huge TV and a toilet with a remote control.

The hotel sports a five acre pool that guests can take a gondola ride across, which takes a full 30 minutes. The bathrooms have gold-plated mirrors on the floor and the spa boasts a room full of real snow that guests can roll around in immediately after exiting the sauna. The absurd undertaking is the brainchild of Russian billionaire Telman Ismailov, who ploughed at least one of his billions into this monument to ostentation.

Champagne costs 25 pounds a glass, toilets are remote-controlled, guests select linen and pillow firmness from a ‘pillow menu’ alongside each bed and the private beach has been created from 9,000 tons of the silkiest white sand imported from Egypt.

Those having families know that nothing can make a family more united than a picnic or really good time when going out together. It is a super real fun for whole family to have a nice time climbing mountains, camping, hiking, gathering berries and mushrooms, walking in the park or enjoy sunbathing on the beach and near the sea.

All these activities bond a family together and crate great memories to look back on in later life. Often it is the children that like it the most! It is not just grilling the chicken on the barbeque or open fire, the pitching of the tent; it’s all of these and more as it is the act of belonging and communication that is important. Communication unites people, thus it is chance to obtain new experiences, discover talents, capabilities, gain knowledge of new skills, open new sides to young characters and build reliable friendships, with strong wills and a spirit of responsibility. Thus family activities are a superb possibility to open your favorite pastime to the family so as they can to share your favorite hobby. Another alluring feature when spending time outdoors is that all members of the family can feel and contemplate the natural beauty of the surroundings, taking in all the exciting goings on that nature has to offer.

You can often propose to your family members to make lists of their preferred games, activities or actions that they would like to indulge in. Thus you can sit back and take your time creating a thrilling program for them, of what to do and where to go to have this wonderful time. Whilst preparing we suggest you should consider all ages, interests, wishes, desires and requirements. Take into account the landscape and scenery required to excite and fulfill the expectations requested. Children enjoy movement, so, please choose a panorama where you feel relaxed and your children feel safe and away from any potential harm. The final goal of any trip or vacation is to achieve a feeling of pleasure and joy. It is important that all the participants or your family must experience personal satisfaction.

So start thinking, make the lists, research the ideas then when you are fully ready go for your break! We suggest the internet as a good means to research such things as camping sites and adventure activities or trailer parks. There are you can find a lot of interesting proposals., however sometimes it is more exciting to create you own route. For example, you can arrange fishing on a weekend, leave on the Friday night book a simple B&B for two nights next to the fishing lake and have a really simple but pleasant break.

Believe me when I say it is a marvelous feeling when you feel that fish hooked on the end of your line. Or perhaps you may feel like just sitting around the open fire on the lakeside. Talking to each other interesting anecdote, funny stories from your life or just fairy-tales, these are the kind of adventure that bring families together.

Our life consists of emotions, positive moments and feelings that are nice to share and remember. It is up to you to create such an atmosphere to record these nice experiences and feelings. When time moves on it is these you will recall think upon.

My two favorite rides at Disney theme parks are “It’s a Small World After All” and “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad”. Both are popular attractions at Disneyland, Disney World, and the Disney parks in Paris and Tokyo.

“It’s a Small World After All” made its debut at the 1964 New York World’s Fair in the UNICEF pavilion and was designed as a message of international harmony by Walt Disney’s team. It was transported to Disneyland in 1966, and located inside Fantasyland; it instantly became a highlight of the park.

In this ride, passengers get into boats outside the attraction and they are carried inside and moved along by a gentle current. They go through a series of rooms, each of which has dolls from different countries and cultures singing and moving to the catchy song. There is the Taj Mahal, Big Ben, and the Eifel Tower, among other global landmarks. I like trying to spot all the different countries and landmarks.

There are about 300 Audio-Animatronics figures from 100 different nations. They are simple and childlike with their repetitive movements and limited articulation. At the end of the ride, there are dolls from all the different nations singing “It’s a Small World After All” together. To me, it is very appealing ending.

That song is the infectious kind that I can’t get out of my mind. It was written by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman, who also wrote the songs for Mary Poppins. It is continually played in a soundtrack loop, about 4,800 times an operating day in Disney parks around the world. Just about all of us can’t help singing along.

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears,

It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears;

There’s so much that we share,

That it’s time we’re aware

It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all,

It’s a small world after all,

It’s a small world after all,

It’s a small, small world.

There is just one moon, and one golden sun,

And a smile means friendship to ev’ryone;

Though the mountains divide,

And the oceans are wide,

It’s a small world after all.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, in Frontierland, is a relatively gentle roller-coaster geared towards adults and teens; it is more exciting to ride in the back of the train than the front. It was modeled after a runaway mining train in the Wild West, and opened in Disneyland in 1979 and in Disney World a year later. The track and queue design are different at each park, even though the theme is the same. There was a prolonged development phase for “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad” in which they considered several “histories” for the mountain. Themes of gold fever and revengeful native American spirits were finally chosen for the ride.

In Disney World, the ride is about 3.5 minutes of hairpin turns and dark descents, and there are six trains which are nicknamed I.B. Hearty, I.M Brave, I.M. Fearless, U.B. Bold, U.R, Daring, and U.R. Courageous. I prefer this roller coaster to other ones because it is just exciting enough for me. You feel like you are falling, and go around corners quickly enough to be tossed from side to side.

There are 20 audio-animatronic figures including donkeys, chickens, possums, and the rainmaker in a now flooded mining town: Professor Cumulus Isobar. There is also antique mining equipment, falling rocks, an earthquake, and the smell of sulfur as you pass phosphorescent pools. In Disney World, you careen through a dinosaur’s ribs, under a waterfall, past spewing geysers, and over a volcanic pool.

The lines are long but move fairly quickly. It is best to go during parades, or use a FASTPASS, or go late in the day (many people say it’s even better after dark). Plan for at least 30 minutes of queuing at non-peak times, and an hour at peak times.

It is easy to see why “It’s a Small World After All” and “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad” are so popular. They both have appealing themes and lots of attention to detail. They are very different from each other but both are great examples of why Disney theme parks are so much fun. I never get tired of them.

Yellowstone tourshave become more popular in the past few years due to the reluctance of many Americans to travel abroad. The Yellowstone Canyon, waterfalls, hot spring geysers, and active volcanoes also bring in visitors from around the world. If you have not been, it is a great time to go right now and well worth the time and money you will spend there.

Here’s a few tips to help you plan and enjoy your Yellowstone tour.

1. Book well in advance. The popularity of Yellowstone tours makes availability on short notice nearly impossible. Book about six months out if you can and prepay it. You’ll know that you have something to look forward to and can just bring spending money when the time comes.

2. Tour with a reputable company that has been around for a while. Yellowstone tours can be a lot of fun but not if your driver gets lost or doesn’t have any previous experience or knowledge of the park. If it’s your first time you will have questions and an inexperienced tour guide will not be able to answer them.

3. Pack two bags, one for the days and one for the nights. You’ll be traveling on a bus so you won’t want to have to dig through all of your belongings to pull out that bag of Snickers you brought along for a snack. Pack a day bag that will fit in the overhead compartment so you can throw your luggage underneath.

4. Take the longer tour if you are able. Most Yellowstone tour companies offer four day, six day, or seven day tours. Take the longer one if you can so you can take your time and enjoy the wonders that Mother Nature has to show you.

5. Bring a good camera and lots of film. Yellowstone National Park is a once in a lifetime sight that you will want to preserve on film. If you have a digital camera, bring extra memory or make sure you download every night. There’s lots to see and you’ll want to show your friends.

6.A final tip. Do not stray from the group. Yellowstone is not Jellystone with a friendly Yogi the Bear around looking to pilfer picnic baskets. There are real wild animals in the park and many other hazards that you will not want to deal with if you get lost. Stay with the others and get back on the bus when it’s time to leave. You’ll enjoy yourself far more and get to spend your nights in a warm, dry hotel room.

Residing within a secluded enclove on the beautiful North Wales coastline, Colwyn Bay is the second biggest town in North Wales, with just under 30,000 people. It’s primary source of income for the town is with tourism, and as a result it can be a great place to visit on a day out.

Attractions wise there are a couple, but what Colwyn Bay lacks in quantity, it more than makes up in quality. The first is the Welsh Mountain Zoo. Beginning life in the mid 1960′s, the zoo has grown into one of the UK’s premier zoos, with continued and sustained growth from the very beginning. Even now it remains one of the top 10 things to do in North Wales. Developments have included in recent years the Jungle Adventureland, European Otter Enclosure, Chimpanzee World & Chimp Encounter, Children’s Farm, Bear Falls & Golden Eagles. The zoo has a very successful breeding programme, breeding the very first Bactrian Camel & Flamingos in Wales. The zoo also specialises in chimpanzees & South American birds such as condors.

The other stunning attraction in Colwyn Bay is the 2 mile long beach that stretches from Old Colwyn, through the centre of Colwyn Bay, to Rhos On Sea. The beach actually continues further onto Angel Bay in Penrhyn Bay, but it is broken along the way, so locals assume that’s the end of the beach. Walking along the beach also has it’s fair share of history, including the Victoria Pier (at timme of writing, it’s undergoing some rennovation work). Rhos on Sea also has old buildings such as St. Trillo’s church and sites associated with Ednyfed Fychan – the Welsh general who famously decapitated 3 English Lords. So exploring the Colwyn Bay coastline is not only pleasurable, but educational too.

Colwyn Bay recently has increased its business exploits, with a number of large offices and business accommodation dotted around the town, this has seen a growth in the IT, business services & other similar industries. This will ensure that Colwyn Bay will continue it’s growth long into the future.

The Internet makes buying train tickets so much easier nowadays. We have the flexibility to book train tickets whenever suits us, day or night. This means we no longer have to make a trip down to the train station during lunch break or wait on hold for the next operator. This benefits both customers and the operators since the costs are lower for booking therefore prices can be lower for customers. The Internet also means you can get quotes for different trains and different modes of transport to compare as well as take advantage of the best value deals.

Trains themselves have certainly improved over the years in the service that they can offer both business customers and individuals. Of course different operator’s trains are equipped with different features; national operators will be able to offer more additional services than trains runnielng on local or quieter lines.

Trains have really come along compared to ten years ago. Technology advances are everywhere for example most trains will offer power points that can be used for mobile phones, laptops and gaming systems and included in the price of the train ticket. Electronic displays so you can easily see seats that are reserved or for you to find your own seat.

Trains must also cater for disabled passengers so there are now more services available to make it easy as possible for disabled passengers to navigate trains. There are many innovative trains that offer free Wi-fi fantastic for keeping in touch with friends, browsing the Internet and for business users it offers them a viable alternative to airline travel, they can continue to work while travelling, keep in touch with the office and phone clients which obviously aren’t possible on an airplane.

The train can be better for many, once you are on the train you can sit and relax or get on with your work, no traveling to airports, no checking in, no waiting in lounges and no waiting for your luggage to be returned, overall many will find trains offer a better service meeting their needs and provide a less stressful journey.
